Recycling

This recycling program is a partnership between the Cass County Sustainability Committee and Town and Country Disposal, Inc., with grant funds provided in part by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) Solid Waste Management District.

New Drop-Off Locations
Recycling just got much easier in Cass County! There are new permanent bin locations around the county with 24-hour drop-off and no sorting required. The new locations are as follows:
Peculiar
United Methodist Church parking lot
20521 S. School Road
Freeman
First building east of City Hall
112 E. Main St.
Drexel
Community Building parking lot
410 E. Bates
Garden City
City Hall back parking lot
102 N. Fourth St.
Materials Accepted
Before depositing items, please rinse all food containers, remove lids, and flatten boxes. Accepted materials include:
  • Aluminum and steel (tin) cans
  • Corrugated cardboard (flattened)
  • Magazines and catalogs
  • Newspaper
  • Office paper / junk mail
  • Paperback and hardback books
  • Paperboard (cereal boxes, etc.)
  • Plastics:Grades of plastic
  • Shredded paper in paper bags
  • Telephone books
Materials Not Accepted
The following items are not currently accepted:
  • Containers from automotive products or acids
  • Electronics
  • Glass*
  • Household hazardous materials
  • Plastic Bags**
  • Plastic Film
  • Styrofoam / Polystyrene**
*Glass recycling containers can be found in some locations. Visit the Cass County Recycling website or call 816-474-8326 for information on recycling glass, electronics, and household hazardous waste.

**Some plastic bags and polystyrene foam items have a #1 or #2 on them. However, this does not mean that they are recyclable at our center. The number on a product only indicates what type of plastic the item is made from. We cannot accept these items at this time.
